Kyiv will not start a war in Transnistria, although it has the right to do so, said Moldavian MP Oazu Nantoi.
Ukraine has the right to consider a military scenario in Transnistria, but will not do so. This was said in an interview with European Pravda by a representative from the pro-government party of Moldova Action and unity Oazu Nantoi.
According to the politician, Ukraine views Transnistria as a minor but real danger.
“War is a bloody, cruel and unpredictable business, therefore, the danger of a stab in the back of Ukraine from Transnistria, that is, from the territory of Moldova, remains. And Ukraine is annoyed that it was forced to keep military units in this region,” Nantoi said.
The deputy noted that the threat of an attack by Russian troops on Ukraine from the territory of Moldova is not the most important, but it is still not satisfactory, so Kiev has its own logic of war here: “to be or not be.”
“And Ukraine has every right to consider, in particular, the military scenario of preventing a strike from the territory of Moldova,” said the MP, noting that Ukraine will not follow this path .
According to the parliamentarian, now there is a dialogue between Ukraine and Moldova. There is an official position of Chisinau that the “Transnistrian conflict” is not a conflict that needs to be resolved by military means.
“Ukraine will not start military operations in Transnistria. And because there is a dialogue on this topic between Kiev and Chisinau. And because now the situation at the front is such that this military operation is unnecessary,” believes Nantoi.
It will be recalled that last week Russia accused Ukraine of “preparing provocations” in Transnistria. The Russian Foreign Ministry has threatened Ukraine and NATO that steps towards Transnistria will have consequences. Russia will consider this as an attack on its territory.
Ukrainian and Moldovan authorities denied this. The Office of the President said that Russia is the only country that can organize provocations on the territory of Pridnestrovie.
