Russia decided this Monday that the plan proposed last week China resolve conflict in Ukraine “deserves attention”, but the necessary conditions for a “peaceful” solution are not met “yet”.
“We are considering the plan of our Chinese friends with great attention (…) This is a long process. So far, we do not see the prerequisites for this matter to become peaceful,” Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters.
“Special military operation (in Ukraine) continues,” he added.
On Friday, just a year after the start of the Russian offensive, China published a 12-point document calling on Moscow and Kyiv for peace talks.
But if China seeks to impose himself as a mediator in this conflict, his position as an ally of Russia discredits him in the eyes of the West, which supports Ukraine.
Russia And Ukraine So far, they have not shown a serious readiness for negotiations, and they reacted to the proposal of the Asian giant in a balanced way.
On the other hand, on Monday, the Kremlin called “absurd” a new package of sanctions imposed by the European Union (EU) on Russia on Friday, focusing on 121 individuals and legal entities.
“All this is absurd. We see that anyone is put under sanctions (…), if only to make new lists,” Peskov said, adding that these measures were not going to “touch” the sanctioned people. (AFP)
