ISW predicts shortage of recruits in Russia

In the coming years, the Russian Federation may face a shortage of recruits and face a choice, say Western analysts.

Russian President Vladimir Putin threatens in the coming years to face the lack of mobilization resources and the need to expand the number of conscripts. This is stated in the report of analysts from the Institute for the Study of War (ISW).

The draft system in the Russian Federation annually calls up 260,000 new soldiers for military service.

The Kremlin leader will probably have to think about increasing the number of conscripts to get an increase in the mobilization resource in the future.

However, from a demographic point of view, such a solution would lead to new problems. In particular, about 800,000 young men turn 18 every year in Russia. At the same time, the increase in the number of “conscripts” will lead to an increase in the number of weak soldiers.

In addition, it will begin the process of “washing” young men from the country’s economy, which the Russian Federation is trying to put in a war.

Remember that the Russian Federation is preparing for mass mobilization of students.

Let’s add that in Crimea there were widespread complaints about the violation of the rights of the mobilized.
