The European Union has imposed new sanctions against individuals and entities linked to private military companies Wagner. In particular, against militants who took an active part in the capture of Soledar in Ukraine, according to a statement from the Council of the EU.

Specifically, the EU includes 11 people and seven organizations on the sanctions list:

two people are included in the list for actions that destroy or threaten the territorial integrity, sovereignty and independence of Ukraine.
“The people named include two group force commanders Wagnerwho took an active part in the capture of the city of Soledar in January 2023; Team leader Wagner in Mali, where mercenaries have been involved in violent activities and numerous human rights violations, including extrajudicial executions, and of several key members of the group in CAR,” the communiqué said.
According to media reports, the two commanders sanctioned for their role in the attack on Soledar are Hayk Gasparyan with the call sign. Abrek and Anton Elizarov with a call sign Lotus.
Among the legal entities, the companies Meroe Gold, M-Invest and its leader, Lobaye Invest Sarlu and Diamville, associated with the group’s activities, were authorized. Wagner in Sudan and CAR.
