Law enforcement officers exposed the head of the Odessa Department of Expertise and Research of a specialized laboratory of the State Customs Service to corruption. This was reported by the SBU on Saturday, February 25.
It is indicated that the official established a mechanism for systematically extorting money from businessmen. For money, he promised importers of products not to create artificial obstacles during the study of the quality of foreign goods imported into Ukraine. He also “guarantees” an “accelerated” process of processing the relevant documentation with a positive conclusion of the review
“For each “extraordinary” study, the official asked for 300 dollars. Every day, dozens of representatives of commercial structures passed by the customs laboratory in Odessa, bringing foreign products to Ukraine, ” said the report.
The SBU documented many facts of the attacker accepting money and detained him at his workplace while accepting another bribe.
He was notified of suspicion under the article on receiving an offer, promise or acceptance of an illegal benefit by an official (part 3 of article 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). The issue of choosing a measure of restraint is decided.
It can be recalled that in early February, the government fired the entire leadership of the State Customs Service. The decision is connected to the promised “spring plantings”.
