A year after the start of the war, tanks came to Ukraine again, but now they will defend freedom, the prime minister said.

The Ukrainian military received four Leopard 2 tanks from Poland. This was announced by Prime Minister Denys Shmygal on Telegram on Friday, February 24.

“A year ago, tanks went to Ukraine to take away the freedom of Ukrainians. Today, tanks also came to Ukraine, but to protect freedom. The first four Leopard 2 tanks provided by partners met with the Prime Minister of Poland Mateusz Morawiecki, ” Shmygal wrote.

Government leaders congratulated the crews of Ukrainian tankers who already had successful combat experience.

“Under the leadership of the President of Ukraine, we continue to expand the tank coalition to restore freedom to all territories of Ukraine,” added the prime minister.

Earlier on Friday, it became known that Poland transferred four Leopard 2 A4 tanks to Ukraine. More deliveries are expected soon.

Also, Poland will soon give Ukraine 60 PT-91 Twardy tanks, which have already shown themselves well in battles with Russian aggressors.
