A tourist from Russia drowned on Thursday, February 23, on one of the beaches of the city of Durban in South Africa. This was reported by the local news portal Arrive Alive.
Emergency medical services at 11:28 (Kyiv time) received a signal that a 47-year-old man was washed away by a wave at Viu-Umhlanga beach north of Durban, media reports.
Rescuers and search teams removed the body from the water.
Paramedics performed resuscitation, but all were unsuccessful.
A man who came to the beach with his family chose a sector for swimming that was not under the control of the rescue service, the portal added.
As previously reported, as a result of avalanches in western Austria in Tyrol and Vorarlberg, eight people died in two days.
At the end of last year, around ten winter sports enthusiasts were buried under an avalanche in the Austrian ski area Lech/Zurs.
