The Hungarian Foreign Ministry is working on the issue of the visit of the head of the Hungarian government to Ukraine, said Peter Szijjarto.
Hungary is preparing for Prime Minister Viktor Orban’s visit to Ukraine. This is what the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Economic Relations of Hungary, Peter Szijjártó, said in the report of the Index edition on Thursday, February 23.
“When the time comes, the Hungarian Prime Minister will make such a trip, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is now working on its preparation,” the official said.
According to the head of the Hungarian Foreign Ministry, he was ready to visit Ukraine himself, but he was not invited there.
“If I receive an invitation and we can agree on the main topics and dates of the visit in advance, then I will go with pleasure, but so far no such invitation has been received,” explained Szijjarto.
As previously reported, Orban recently pledged more support to Ukraine, stressing that Budapest “belongs to the peace camp.”
However, before that, the Hungarian prime minister had a scandal because of his statements about Ukraine. In particular, he compared it to Afghanistan and called it a “no man’s land.” Even earlier, he argued that the war would supposedly end once Washington stopped supporting Kyiv with weapons.
