On February 20, Captain Yuriy Lutsenko was appointed commander of a platoon of strike unmanned aerial systems. Yuriy Lutsenko is a well-known Ukrainian politician, who at one time was the Minister of Internal Affairs and the Prosecutor General.
The appointment of Yuriy Lutsenko was announced by the former press secretary of the Prosecutor General Larisa Sargan on social networks.
According to the wife of Yuriy Lutsenko Irina, at first the former high-ranking security official was in the territory of Kyiv, later in Nikolaev and Kherson direction. But for more than three months he has been serving in Bakhmut and Soledar. Lutsenko was recently promoted to the rank of captain.
Yuriy Lutsenko was Interior Minister in 2005-2006 and 2007-2010, and Prosecutor General in 2016-2019. He was the leader of the once influential People’s Self-Defense Party and worked closely with Viktor Yushchenko and later with Petro Poroshenko.
