Since the start of Russia’s all-out war against Ukraine, Chinese officials have repeatedly advocated early negotiations and a peaceful solution to the conflict.
Kyiv is trying to improve relations with Beijing, but communication between the authorities at the moment “remains difficult.” This was announced on Wednesday, February 22, in an interview with Ukrainska Pravda by Deputy Foreign Minister Andriy Melnyk.
“We are trying to improve the position of official Beijing regarding the Russian aggression… Unfortunately, communication has been very difficult and remains very difficult at the highest level – at the leadership level,” Melnik said.
He said that the country’s diplomatic service aims to “find the key to this very important state for us so that its position is more favorable than it is now. So that it is not just neutrality.”
“We are not losing hope of reaching the minds and hearts of the Chinese leadership to eliminate any alliance with Putin’s Russia,” the diplomat added.
It should be noted that on the eve of China it said it is ready to cooperate with other countries to achieve an early ceasefire and lasting peace in Ukraine.
Earlier, US media said, citing local officials, that China was considering providing military aid to Russia.
In this regard, US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken warned China against supplying Russia with arms.
