In Chernihiv, streets were renamed, the names of which are associated with Russia and Belarus, the press service of the city council reported.
“37 streets and alleys, as well as one square, were renamed in Chernihiv. At the plenary meeting of the 29th extraordinary session of the Chernihiv city council, representatives supported the decision to rename the city streets,” the report said.
In particular, the streets and lanes named after the writer Mikhail Lermontov, the Soviet poet Vladimir Mayakovsky, the partisan Zoya Kosmodemyanskaya and others were renamed. 1st May Street will now be named after Mikhail Hrushevsky, chairman of the Central Rada, and Brestskaya and Griboedova streets will bear the names of Ukrainian soldiers killed last year.
