Ukraine can count on Italy, said Prime Minister George Maloney. The head of the Italian government is visiting Ukraine today. She came to Bucha and Irpin destroyed by the Muscovites, in the afternoon Meloni will hold talks with the President of Ukraine.
We have been with Ukraine from the very beginning (of the Russian invasion – ed.) and will be until the end. You have all our support,” Maloney is quoted as saying by FarodiRoma.
Meloni arrived in Kyiv at noon on February 21 by train.
In Bucha, guests from Italy presented a medal made from shot balloons – a symbol of Russian war crimes in the Kiev region.
In Irpen, Melon herself gave the Ukrainians a gift from Italy – several generators.
Meloni admitted that she expected something from Russian President Vladimir Putin’s speech that would make progress towards a diplomatic end to the war.
She said this during a visit to Irpin, reports “European Truth” with reference to La Stampa.
Putin? Part of my heart hoped that he would say different words, waiting for a step forward. What we heard this morning is just propaganda, but the facts are different,” Maloney said.
Far-right Meloni, who last October was sworn in as Italy’s first female prime minister, continues her predecessor Mario Draghi’s policy of strongly supporting Kyiv and sending military aid.
US President Joe Biden, after a visit to Kyiv, discussed with Meloni support for Ukraine and invited her to visit the White House.
