The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) reported suspicion of inciting interfaith hatred to the head of the Cherkasy diocese of the UOC-MP.
This was announced today, February 20, by the press center of the special service.
According to the intelligence agency:
- the metropolitan, in public statements among clergy and believers and in official comments, disseminated appeals that violated the equality of citizens depending on their racial, national, regional affiliation and beliefs;
- under his leadership, the administrator of the departmental website of the diocese posted hostile materials from the propaganda websites of the Russian Orthodox Church, including patriarchia.ru and pravmir.ru. In these publications, representatives of Russia imposed the ideas of rashism and popularized the Kremlin regime, which contributed to the aggravation of the internal situation in the region due to the incitement of inter-religious hatred.
During searches at the place of residence of the Metropolitan and in the premises of the diocese, it was found:
- computer equipment and mobile phones;
- network storage and external storage;
- printed materials confirming criminal acts.
At present, the head of the diocese has been informed of the suspicion under Art. 161 (violation of the equality of citizens depending on their racial, national, religious affiliation, religious beliefs, disability and other characteristics) of the Criminal Code.
Investigations are ongoing to bring all those responsible to justice.
