Russian pranksters Vovan and Lexus called ex-Chancellor of Germany Angela Merkel on behalf of ex-president of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko.
She did not suspect a trick and entered into a conversation, but asked her opponent to keep the conversation confidential, according to Bild.
When the caller asked the ex-chancellor’s opinion about the peace talks with Russia, Angela Merkel limited herself to the phrase that “the main thing is that the West remains the only one.”
During the conversation, the fake Poroshenko reminded her of the Minsk agreements. The former chancellor said she “doesn’t see the point in digging into 2014,” but noted that these agreements “gave Ukraine more time to develop between 2014 and 2021” and the opportunity today to “respond to Putin’s aggression differently than in 2014.”
Angela Merkel’s spokeswoman confirmed that her conversation “with a subscriber posing as the ex-president [України] Petro Poroshenko”, really happened.
