US President Joe Biden visited Kyiv on Monday for an unannounced visit, the first since the start of the pandemic. Russian invasionwho turns one on Friday, and met with his Ukrainian colleague, Vladimir Zelensky.

Biden announces additional $500 million aid to Ukraine

US President announces $500 million in extra aid during surprise visit to Kyiv Ukraine and announced that this week he will announce additional sanctions against Russia.

The White House did not promote Biden’s visit to Kyiv due to security concerns and did not report on it until it began.

Significant date in Ukraine

Biden He is visiting Kyiv to mark the anniversary of the climax of the Euromaidan revolution, a series of anti-government protests between 2013 and 2014 that toppled pro-Russian President Viktor Yanukovych.

During these protests, more than a hundred demonstrators were killed, many of them in one day, February 20, 2014, and are known in Ukraine like the Heavenly Hundred.
