On the Day of Remembrance of the Heroes of the Heavenly Way, the Office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine reported what was done during the year in the Maidan cases.
“Despite the challenges associated with the military invasion, during the year, under the leadership of the procedure of the prosecutors of the relevant department of the Office of the Prosecutor General: 27 people were notified of suspicion; 25 indictments against of 55 people were sent to court; court permissions were obtained to conduct a special pre-trial investigation against 26 suspects; 4 guilty verdicts were passed, of which 4 people were convicted,” the report of the press service of the Office of the Prosecutor General.
In addition, it is reported what was done for the entire period of investigations.
“Overall, throughout the period, under the leadership of the prosecutors of the Office of the Prosecutor General, 383 people were reported as suspects. 165 accusations against 301 people were sent to court. The guilty verdicts were adopted against 29 people,” the report said.
The Office of the Prosecutor General also reports on the results of the work of the territorial bodies of the prosecutor’s office for the entire investigation period.
“Suspicion was reported to 135 people. 105 accusations against 118 people were sent to court. Guilty verdicts were passed against 26 people,” the report said.
The Office of the Prosecutor General states that more than 500 people have been prosecuted, more than 50 people have been convicted.
“The Maidan cases remain a priority for the leadership and prosecutors of the Office of the Prosecutor General. The prosecutors will continue to make every effort to ensure that they receive their logical conclusion, and the perpetrators receive fair punishment,” the message said.
It will be recalled that during the protests on Maidan Nezalezhnosti in Kyiv on February 18-20, more than 100 people died. The dead activists are called the Heavenly Hundred, and the events, called Euromaidan, culminated in the change of power.
On February 18, on the anniversary of the start of the executions, a memorial service was held in Kyiv for the Heroes of the Heavenly Way.
