France handed over Akeron 5th generation anti-tank missile systems to Ukraine.
An ally country has transferred an unnamed number of anti-tank missile systems and missiles to them to Ukraine. Information that the Ukrainian Defense Forces received these weapons has already been made public after the fact. This was stated by Vice-President of the Commission for National Defense and the Armed Forces of France, Jean-Louis Thierryo, according to Opexnews.
Today it is clear that the weapons we are sending are good and working. The Caesar self-propelled guns, Mistral anti-aircraft missile systems and those sent by Akeron are doing their jobs well, he said.
As you know, Akeron MP is a fifth-generation French anti-tank guided missile system developed by MBDA France. The ATGM works with fire-and-forget modes, and there is also command guidance. The system also integrates third-party target designation for indirect fire scenarios through post-launch line-of-sight (NLOS) lock-in.
A guided missile can be armed as foot soldiers, and it can also be installed on combat vehicles. The range of destruction is up to 5 km.
The French army received the Acceron in 2017, this ATGM is designed to replace the US-made MILAN and FGM-148 Javelin anti-tank missile systems.
Recall that in early February, the United States announced a new package of military assistance totaling $2.2 billion. Ukraine will receive HIMARS long-range missiles (GLSDB with a range of up to 150 km). The Pentagon is confident that these missiles will allow Ukraine to carry out operations to protect its own country and return sovereign territory.
