The Russians continue to take residential areas of the city from artillery. In just one day, five civilians died there, nine more were injured.
About six thousand civilians remain in Bakhmut. They were urged to evacuate as the Russians continued to shell residential areas with artillery. This was announced on the evening of Thursday, February 16, by the Minister for the Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories, Irina Vereshchuk.
“Just now, five civilians were killed there, nine were injured. Heavy fighting is happening in the city,” the official noted.
Vereshchuk turned to the citizens in Bakhmut and explained that while they remained in the city, then:
-
endanger themselves and their loved ones, especially children who are forced to stay with them.
-
create additional problems and dangers for all those trying to help them there (military, National Police, volunteers).
-
prevent the Ukrainian defense forces from working normally in the city, forcing them to constantly consider the safety of civilians.
“Therefore, I again urge you to evacuate immediately,” the minister said, adding that local residents know very well how to do so and where to move.
As reported, a day before the bullets of the invaders hit the residential quarter of the city again, as a result, five people died.
