The Russian offensive has begun. This was said by the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky in an interview with BBC News, published on Thursday, February 16.
“Russian attacks are coming from different directions,” he said.
The Armed Forces of Ukraine continue to defend until the counter-offensive begins, the head of state added.
In this regard, Ukraine needs more weapons from the West, the Ukrainian leader noted and added that in this regard Ukraine is still disappointed by the speed of Western weapons supplies.
“Weapons are the only language that Russia understands,” he explained.
Zelenskiy also ruled out compromises on ending the war.
“We chose this path. We want security guarantees. Any territorial compromise will weaken us as a state,” he explained.
The head of state also hoped that Belarus would not join the war.
“If this happens, we will fight and survive,” summed up the President of Ukraine.
