The modernization of the Kh-101 cruise missile did not live up to Russia’s expectations.
This was stated by Colonel Mykola Danilyuk, representative of the Center for Research on Captured and Advanced Weapons and Military Equipment of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, at a briefing at the Military Media Center.
According to Danilyuk, the studies and statistics of the Ukrainian air defense system showed that the latest upgrade of the Kh-101 cruise missile did not meet the expectations of the aggressor country.
There are no massive breakthroughs in the air defense system. An attempt to improve the so-called “high-precision” weapons failed, Colonel Danilyuk said, adding that “Russian missiles are increasingly falling on the territory of Russia itself, not reaching Ukraine.”
According to him, the plan to modify the X-101 cruise missile indicates that Russia is not abandoning its terrorist tactics, but, on the contrary, is striving to inflict even greater destruction on our cities and villages.
Therefore, other new modifications and technical solutions may appear aimed at improving the accuracy and lethality of Russian missiles, Colonel Nikolai Danilyuk said.
Therefore, according to him, Ukraine needs further assistance from allies in order to avoid new civilian casualties and destruction of critical infrastructure.
Recall that on December 16, 2022, during a massive Russian missile attack on the territory of Ukraine, at least one of the X-101 cruise missiles fell on the territory of the aggressor country. An aircraft-based cruise missile fell in the Volgograd region. The remains of the rocket were discovered by eyewitnesses and filmed and photographed.
