Russian aviation is far behind and is hampered by the constant high threat from the Ukrainian air defense.
The number of Russian combat aircraft involved in the war against Ukraine has not changed recently, but the number of sorties has increased in the past week. This is stated in the report British Ministry of Defence.
It is noted that the wind activity is currently estimated to be in line with the average daily rate observed since the summer of 2022.
According to British intelligence, Russian aviation is remote and hampered by the continued high threat from Ukrainian air defenses and dispersed basing due to the threat of strikes against Russian airfields. Russian combat aircraft operate almost exclusively in Russian-held territory, preventing them from effectively fulfilling their primary strike role.
At the same time, the Russian Aerospace Forces (VKS) likely kept its fleet of around 1,500 crewed combat aircraft almost intact, despite losing more than 130 units since the beginning of the invasion.
British intelligence considers it unlikely that the VKS is currently preparing for a sharp expansion of the air campaign, because in the current combat conditions they will suffer unacceptable losses of aircraft.
Earlier it was reported that the Russian Federation was imitating the withdrawal of dagger carriers from Belarus.
According to the press secretary of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Yuri Ignat, the training flights of the Russian MiG-31K on the territory of Belarus are aimed at threatening Ukraine and Europe.
