The head of the World Bank, David Malpass, has announced his intention to leave his position ahead of schedule in the coming months. On Wednesday, February 15, Bloomberg wrote, citing a statement from the organization.
“WB President David Malpas has informed the Board of Directors of his intention to leave his position at the end of WB’s fiscal year, which ends June 30, after more than four years of employment,” the statement said.
He assumed this position in April 2019, his term is due to end in 2024. Prior to that, Malpass served as deputy secretary of the US Treasury.
His candidacy was proposed by former US President Donald Trump, the choice was unanimously approved by the organization’s executive board.
Recall that the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky asked the Minister of Defense Oleksiy Reznikov to remain in office. In this regard, there was no previously announced resignation.
