The Russian army, and Wagner’s auxiliary forces in particular, continue to besiege the town of Bakhmut in eastern Ukraine’s Donbas, which had a population of 70,000 before the war. Yevgeny Prigogine, the leader of the Russian paramilitary group, announced on Sunday that he had captured the village of Krasna Hora (600 inhabitants before the war) north of Bakhmut. This capture, admittedly modest, mainly enabled Russian control around the besieged city to be tightened by forcing the M03 road, which linked the front to Sloviansk, 60 kilometers behind.
