Mobilized Russian soldiers do not have adequate military training, analysts say.
A major offensive by the Russian army is hindered by the insufficient level of training of the mobilized soldiers, who make up the majority of it. This is stated in the analysis of analysts at the Institute for the Study of War (ISW).
They note, referring to Ukrainian data, that for the third time Russia was forced to understaff the 155th Marine Brigade, which suffered heavy losses near Vuhledar. At the same time, according to sources in the brigade itself, it consists of 80-90% of the mobilized.
“The mobilized did not have the necessary combat experience necessary to successfully conduct a mechanized offensive. These mobilized probably received limited individual training, they lacked the cohesion, training and experience necessary to carry out large-scale offensive operations,” analysts emphasize.
An example of the unsuccessful attack of the brigade in Ugledar is the case when a group of Russian tanks stumbled on mines, experts say. Then the Russian soldiers showed a complete inability to see the minefields and properly respond to them.
“Russia may deploy additional mobilized units capable of conducting reliable defense or offensive attrition operations on the Ugledar Front, but they are unlikely to be effective mechanized units capable of conducting successful operations offensive in the short term,” ISW concluded.
Remember, the publication Politico said that Russia completely lost the elite 155th Marine Brigade in the battles near Vugledar.
