In Poland, exercises of Ukrainian military personnel on Leopard 2 tanks began as part of the EUMAM European military support program.

This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Defense of Poland in their social networks.

Polish President Andrzej Duda personally visited the training ground of the 10th armored cavalry brigade. There, Ukrainian servicemen are preparing for the operation of Leopard 2A4 tanks, which Warsaw plans to transfer to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

On behalf of the President of Ukraine, we are starting the training of Ukrainian tankers. The exercises are attended by experienced fighters who are determined to defend the Motherland. We carry out our allied activities through military and humanitarian assistance, as well as organizing exercises, Duda said.

It is known that 105 Ukrainian military personnel arrived in Poland – 84 in 21 tank crews and 21 technical personnel. The training course for Ukrainian tankers will last one month with classes of 10-12 hours a day.

Krzysztof Sieradsky, head of the training group at the training ground of the 10th Armored Brigade, noted that Ukrainians have experience in driving tanks, which greatly simplified the learning process.

Ukrainians learn quickly, there are no problems with mastering this military equipment,” Seradsky emphasized.

The training of Ukrainian servicemen was organized on the basis of the training infrastructure of the 10th Tank Cavalry Brigade in Sventoszow, which is part of the 11th Lubusz Black Cavalry Division. Its instructors will train the personnel of the Ukrainian Armed Forces as part of the European Union Military Assistance Mission to Ukraine (EUMAM).

Vice Prime Minister of Poland Mariusz Blaszczak noted that today the biggest challenge for creating a Ukrainian tank unit on Leopard 2 tanks is the creation of a stock of spare parts.

We put this task before the German side, before German industry. I spoke about this, among other things, recently with the Minister of Defense of Germany, – said Mariusz Blaszczak.

On February 13, the exercises of the Ukrainian crews of the Leopard 2 main battle tanks began in Germany. They will take place mainly at the training ground of the school of tank troops in Munster in Lower Saxony.

It is known that the German Bundeswehr is planning an express course for the Ukrainian military. Crew training is scheduled to be completed by the end of the first quarter, because that’s when the Leopard combat vehicles should transfer the APU.

Poland will bring the number of T-72 tanks transferred to Ukraine to 310 and is preparing Leopards. This was stated by Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki during a press conference on February 13.

Poland has already delivered 250 post-Soviet tanks. We also plan to deliver the next additional upgraded 60 tanks and 14 Leopards. Also in the future, Ukraine will receive from Poland another 60 modernized T-72 and PT-91 Twardy.
