BEIJING (AP) – Rescuers from central China rescued living people from the rubble of a nearly partially collapsed building nearly six days ago, state media reported Thursday.
An unknown woman is the tenth survivor of a disaster in the city of Chansha, in which at least five people have died and an unknown number, possibly dozens, are still missing.
He was rescued on Thursday, just after midnight, 132 hours after the back of a six -story building. It suddenly crashed on April 29, the official Xinhua news agency reported.
The woman woke up and advised rescuers on how to release her without further damage, Xinhua said. Search teams used dogs and hand tools, as well as drones and electronic life detectors.
All survivors were reported to be in good condition following hospital treatment. Periodic rains in the last days can increase their chances of surviving without food and water.
In a report on the safety of the eighth survivor on Monday, state media said rescuers encountered unstable piles of rubble that they had to pass through rather than demolish. Before they survived, they ate video equipment to contact the girl and determine that one of her legs was pinched.
Before retreating to make a strategy, they drank a saline solution to drink, to which he replied, “Don’t worry, brother, I know you’ll come back to me right away,” the report said.
Other details about the girl and her condition were not disclosed.
At least nine people have been arrested in connection with the demolition of what Xinhua calls a “self-built building,” including its owner, who allegedly neglected building regulations or committed other violations.
Three people responsible for the design and construction were also arrested and five others who allegedly gave a false safety check at a boarding house on the fourth or sixth floor of the building.
The building also houses residences, cafes and shops.
The increasing number of temporary building collapses in recent years prompted Chinese President Xi Jinping to request additional inspections last month to identify structural weaknesses.
Poor compliance with safety standards, including the illegal addition of additional flooring and the non -use of reinforcing metal grids, are often associated with such disasters. China is also experiencing the collapse of infrastructures such as gas pipelines, which have caused explosions and damage.
