Russia has launched a major new offensive in Ukraine. NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg at the briefing in Brussels on Monday 13 February.
“We see them (the Russians – ed.) sending more troops, more weapons, more capabilities,” he said, adding: “The truth is we’re seeing the beginning” of a new Russian offensive in Ukraine.
According to him, Russian President Vladimir Putin is sending “thousands and thousands of troops”, taking “very high levels of losses” and taking “huge losses”, but putting pressure on those Ukrainians.
“What Russia lacks in quality, it tries to make up for in quantity,” Stoltenberg said and called on Western countries to quickly supply Ukraine with as many weapons and ammunition as possible before Russia seizes the initiative in the field of war
The Secretary of the General Alliance emphasized that he “sees no signs” that Vladimir Putin is “preparing for peace.”
“We see that President Putin and Russia still want to control Ukraine,” he said.
Earlier, the White House said that Russia was preparing for a spring offensive. The aggressor nation uses the winter period to replenish supplies, provisions, re-equip forces, replenish personnel and resume offensive operations in the spring.
