Ukraine at this event will be represented by Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba and more than 20 parliamentarians.
150 politicians will attend the Security Conference in Munich this year. However, Russian representatives were not invited to the 59th conference. This is what the head of the Munich Conference, Christoph Heusgen, said in a press conference on Monday, February 13.
Participants in the event include 45 heads of state, 83 ministers of foreign affairs and defense, as well as other politicians.
The German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, the Presidents of France Emmanuel Macron and Poland Andrzej Duda, the US Vice President Kamala Harris, the third part of the US Senate, the leaders of the Scandinavian countries, the leaders of NATO, the EU and the UN are coming to Munich.
Ukraine will be represented at the conference by Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba and more than 20 parliamentarians.
However, Russia was not invited this year, nor were the “proper” representatives of the German Bundestag from the Alternative for Germany party, Heusgen said. He called Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov “the loudspeaker of Putin and the Kremlin.” According to him, the forum cannot allow the event to be used for propaganda.
“We have been watching closely in recent months and weeks what is happening. Putin has not deviated one iota from his line in his statements. He denies the right to have an independent Ukraine … there are signs that traces of the MH17 accident lead to the Kremlin,” added Heusgen.
As you know, Russia is completely excluded from the governing body of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) at the UN.
Let’s add that the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe excluded Russia from the organization.
