The SBU is changing dynamically and fundamentally, becoming a strong and modern service, the President said.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy introduced the new head of the Security Service of Ukraine, Vasily Malyuk, to the leadership of the SBU. This was reported by the press service of the head of state on Monday, February 13.
Zelensky noted that Major General Vasily Malyuk is a combat officer and specialist.
“From the beginning of the mass invasion, Vasily Vasilyevich Malyuk proved that he is a patriot, a professional and exactly the person who should lead the Security Service of our state,” the president stressed.
According to him, the SBU is changing dynamically and fundamentally, becoming a strong and modern service.
“The enemy knows that these professional people who are here will not give him any chance. And therefore he is very afraid of you. The main thing is to ensure all this and not lose it until the end of war and after our victory. Because there will be many trials in our state,” – he declared.
The President mentioned the work of SBU employees, including those fighting the enemy in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine.
For his part, Vasily Malyuk thanked Zelensky for his trust and promised that the SBU personnel would not abandon him, as they understand the level of responsibility and challenges.
“Today the SBU works systematically: from conducting unique special operations to documenting war crimes of the Russian Federation,” he said.
Malyuk emphasized that imitation of active work is no longer allowed.
“Now this is real operational combat work, counter-sabotage, anti-terrorist operations. And those who don’t have time to feel it, sorry, we will let them know,” he said.
According to the head of the SBU, now special emphasis is placed on counterintelligence. At the same time, the Security Service is actively fighting the internal enemy.
Malyuk emphasized that the Ukrainian people are waiting for victory in the war against the Russian invaders, and assured that the secret service will do everything possible and impossible to speed up this victory.
Recall that on February 7, the Verkhovna Rada appointed Vasily Malyuk as the head of the SBU. His candidacy was supported by 324 people’s representatives.
