Russian propaganda relies on demoralizing Ukrainians by exaggerating their “successes”, analysts say.

The Kremlin is exaggerating the importance of each tactical offensive in its IPSOs to demoralize Ukrainians and make the West question the importance of Ukraine’s military support. This is stated in the report of analysts from the Institute for the Study of War (ISW).

The Russian Federation is trying to convince Western countries that Ukraine “will not be able to cope” with the alleged overwhelming power of Russian offensives, despite the fact that their results will not have a strategic outcome on the battlefield .

Exaggerating small victories allowed the Kremlin to explain to the Russians the slow pace of the invaders’ offensive.

“Both versions of the narrative – the expected blitzkrieg at the beginning of the invasion on February 24 and the impression of unstoppable, even slow, progress in its second phase – were partly intended to hinder the provision of aid to the West,” said ISW.

Russian propagandists at their IPSO sought to bolster perceptions of Russian power prior to the invasion and downplay Ukraine’s successful resistance in the hope that the West would allegedly withdraw its support for Ukraine.

“In this they failed,” the analyst concluded.

As you know, special information operations are one of the ways to force Ukraine to hold peace talks with Russia. The enemy has stepped up this kind of pressure on Ukraine with attempted military offensives.
