The face value of the coin is 250 Canadian dollars, but the redemption price reaches 7 thousand dollars. A total of 275 “pysanky” coins were minted.
The Royal Canadian Mint has released a coin in the shape of a Ukrainian pysanka, the press service of the department reports.
This is at least the eighth pysanka-shaped coin in the Court’s collection.
It features sunflowers and a minted profile of Queen Elizabeth II.
The coin is made from 58.5 g of pure gold. Its face value is 250 Canadian dollars, but the redemption price reaches 7 thousand dollars. A total of 275 “pysanky” coins were minted. They were sold after a few days, and the proceeds were spent on helping Ukrainians who suffered from the Russian invasion.
The coin was designed by Suzanne Blunt and Dave Melnichuk, a Canadian of Ukrainian origin.
It was previously reported that Estonia will issue two million commemorative coins dedicated to Ukraine.
Remember, the National Bank of Ukraine on the occasion of the 300th anniversary of the birth of the Ukrainian philosopher and teacher Hryhoriy Skovoroda issued a silver coin with a face value of 20 UAH.
