Most of the drones sent to Russia were secretly picked up by an Iranian vessel from a base on the shores of the Caspian Sea.

Iran has used boats and a state-owned airline to deliver new types of long-range unmanned aerial vehicles to Russia, The Guardian has learned from its sources in Iran.

The publication writes about a batch of 18 drones delivered to the Russian Navy after Russian officials and technicians made a special visit to Tehran in November, where they were shown the full range of Iranian technologies.

Then the Russian delegation of 10 people chose six Mohajer-6 drones, which have a flight range of about 200 km and carry two missiles under each wing, as well as 12 Shahed-191 and Shahed-129 drone.

Most of the drones sent to Russia were smuggled by an Iranian vessel from a base on the Caspian coast, the sources said. Then at sea, the drones were transferred to a Russian military boat.

The other drones were sent by state-owned Iranian airlines, the sources added.

Iran and Russia have access to the Caspian Sea, making physical transfers between them relatively easy.

Recall that Iran is modifying the attack drones it supplies to Russia so that they can cause maximum damage to infrastructure facilities on the territory of Ukraine.
