The British group Pet Shop Boys released the video “Living in the past” (Living in the past), in which Putin is equated with Stalin. It was this group that in 1993 shot a video for the song Go west, considered the anthem of the collapse of the USSR.

The song never mentions either the country or the names of the dictators, but the musicians’ references to the events of the past and what is happening now are quite understandable.

    I came to the city

    Where was the bust discovered?

    my predecessor,

Which is still talked about a lot.

    We tried to forget him.

    His crimes were detailed.

    But under new circumstances

    He is again a god.

I want them to be afraid of me

How everyone was afraid of him.

    Arrested and shot

    They still respected him.

    Like him, I will win.

    I won’t be overshadowed.

    I want men to die

With my name on my lips.
