SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. (AP) — WNBA star Brittney Griner attended the WM Phoenix Open golf tournament Saturday in her second public appearance since her release from a Russian prison.
Griner was part of a crowd of about 200,000 fans at the tournament, watching the action from the course’s 16th hole.

At his first appearance last month, Griner was at the Martin Luther King Jr. Walk in downtown Phoenix.
Griner is skipping basketball camp in Minnesota to be with his wife and recover from his time in prison in Russia. She was traded in a dramatic prisoner exchange in December.
Griner said he will play for the Phoenix Mercury again this season, although he is still an unsigned free agent. He did not talk about his international future and the possibility of playing in next year’s Olympic Games in Paris.
