On the evening of February 11, the North American Joint Aerospace Defense Command shot down an unidentified aircraft in Canadian airspace.
Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced this.
Canadian Defense Minister Anita Anand said the object was flying at an altitude of about 12 km and was shot down in the northwest of the country, about 160 km from the US-Canada border. The country’s armed forces and the Royal Mounted Police launched an operation to collect the wreckage of the apparatus for their further study.
The unknown object shot down over Canada was unmanned, it was monitored for a day, the White House said.
This is the third object shot down by the US military in the past week: on February 4, the US shot down a Chinese reconnaissance balloon, and on February 10, another unknown aircraft was shot down over Alaska.
In early February, US authorities reported that the US military tracked a Chinese balloon flying in the country’s airspace for several days. Later, the Chinese Foreign Ministry said that it was a research balloon that had gone off course, which accidentally ended up in the United States.
On February 4, the US military shot down a balloon over the Atlantic Ocean. Later, the US State Department said that the downed aircraft was equipped with electronic intelligence equipment and was part of the PRC intelligence program.
