Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-Fla.) called out a Fox News legal analyst for sharing “pure conjecture” during a hearing for the new House Armed Services Committee.
Jonathan Turley, a GOP-nominated witness, talked Thursday about the “Twitter Files,” or inside information about the platform, that CEO Elon Musk gave to reporters, but Wasserman Schultz didn’t think he had “unique knowledge” about the social. the media giant
“Do you have official dealings with the company?” she asked.
“No, I only have one account,” replied Turley, an attorney and law professor at George Washington University who offered various confusing receipts on Fox News for the past year. He later added that his knowledge of Twitter did not go beyond The Twitter Files and what he read in the media.
“So essentially your answers to today’s questions were your opinion and pure guesswork,” Wasserman Schultz said.
“You said you didn’t have specific or unique knowledge about Twitter, but you spoke as if you did. … And so this is just your opinion, would you say, as a user of a Twitter account?”
“No, I’m coming to do a legal analysis based on facts that are in the public domain,” Turley replied.
“‘Legal analysis’ is another word for ‘opinion,'” Wasserman Schultz replied.

Turley tried to defend himself on Fox News host Sean Hannity’s show on Friday, but Twitter users were quick to find the legal analyst.
