According to official estimates, the number of missing people in Mexico from 1964 to 2022 exceeds 100 thousand people. At the same time, in 2022, the number of murders in this country decreased by 7.1% in annual terms, from 33,350 to 30,968.
The most difficult situation remains in regions such as Guanajuato, Baja California, Mexico City, Michoacán, Jalisco and Chihuahua. Guanajuato remains the most dangerous state, with 3,260 people falling victim to violence in one year. By comparison, 39 people were killed in the southern state of Yucatan.
The main responsibility for widespread violence in Mexico rests with organized crime communities and drug cartels.
Earlier it was reported that in Mexico there was an attack on a prison in the city of Ciudad Juarez. Then 14 people were killed – 10 security officers and four prisoners. Another 13 people were injured. And 24 prisoners escaped.
