According to him, these drones will be delivered to Ukraine as part of the funding of the Security Assistance Initiative. So far, of the $ 300 million planned for it, the Pentagon has allocated $ 136.8 million.

“Of this amount, unmanned aerial systems, an advanced precision weapon system, communication equipment, medical equipment and military supplies, ready meals, even binoculars were purchased and shipped,” the deputy minister specified. .

LaPlante added that the Department of Defense is also using $ 1.45 billion in funding approved by the U.S. Congress, in addition to assistance to Ukraine signed in mid -March, to replace U.S. stockpiles of Javelin and Stinger missiles and key components. for those missiles.

“Right now, we are actively talking to the army about Stinger and related components, and they are ongoing. Deliveries will take place before the end of May,” the official announced.

Recall that the United States provided 100 Switchblade drones to Ukraine in early April. Later, in the USA, a new version of Switchblade called Phoenix Ghost was developed specifically for Ukraine’s needs. Their delivery has also begun.
