The representative of the organization predicted famine around the world if the work of seaports in Ukraine is not resumed.

World Food Program Executive Director David Beasley called for unblocking the ports of the Odessa region to ensure free delivery of Ukrainian products around the world. He posted the corresponding message on Twitter on Friday, May 6th.

“Ukraine’s barns are full. At the same time, 44 million people around the world are marching towards starvation. We have very little time, and the cost of inaction is higher than anyone can imagine,” Beasley said.

The UN representative predicted a worldwide famine if the work of seaports in Ukraine is not immediately resumed.

“If the ports in the Odessa region do not open immediately, two things will happen: first, we will have a collapse of agriculture throughout Ukraine. Second, famine is looming around the world. The ports will have to reopen, and it must happen now “, he stressed.

Recall that Russia invaded the territory of Ukraine and blocked approximately 90 million tons of grain in Ukrainian ports.
