Among other pre-election manipulations against Pavel was the launch of disinformation that the candidate had died.

Moscow was behind the disinformation and provocations directed during the election race against the elected President of the Czech Republic, Petr Pavel. This was announced on Thursday, February 9, by the Czech Ministry of the Interior.

The agency said it conducted an analysis of disinformation and manipulation during the country’s presidential election in January 2023. They noted that Peter Pavel was frequently attacked.

“Before the second round of elections, a widely circulated and manipulatively edited video appeared in which Pavel said that the Czech Republic should go to war with the Russian Federation, although in fact he did not say this publicly,” the Czech Ministry of Internal Affairs. stars.

They added that the video was first published by the Telegram account neČT24, which belongs to the Russian propaganda media outlet Sputnik, which is on the sanctions list of the European Union.

Note that Petr Pavel will be sworn in and become president of the Czech Republic on March 9, 2023, replacing Milos Zeman, who served two terms – ten years.

It should be noted that the President of the Czech Republic supported Ukraine’s membership in NATO.
