Until the fall, it will be replaced by a “state of epidemic threat.” So far, the number of cases is declining. The same trend is expected in the near future.
In Poland, from May 16, the state of the epidemic due to the coronavirus will be canceled and replaced by a “state of epidemic threat”. This was announced on Friday, May 16, by Health Minister Adam Nedzielski, PAP reports.
The state of the epidemic has been continuously implemented in Poland since March 20, 2020.
“This does not mean the end of the epidemic, but there is a condition – the transition of the red indicator that we have for two years to orange means that the risk remains, but the situation is changing in the right direction,” the minister said.
Nedzielski said Poland’s infection rate and hospital rates continue to decline, and simulations predict that this trend will continue in the coming months.
Also, no mutated variant of the virus has yet been found that may be more threatening than previously circulating.
Adam Nedzelski noted that it is likely that a pandemic becomes an endemic – that is, a situation where the virus continues to spread, but thanks to vaccination and a small number of cases when people get sick with severe symptoms, it does not show. a serious problem.
It was also reported that the state of “heightened epidemic risk” will last until September 2022, as the trend may change again in the fall.
According to him, it is likely that in September, with the restoration of the school year and the end of the holidays, the transmission of the virus and a certain seasonality observed will increase again.
Recall that the epidemiological situation with COVID-19 in Ukraine has improved significantly. The number of deaths from COVID-19 in the past month has more than quadrupled in 10 people a day.
