A detachment of Ukrainian emergency workers began search and rescue operations at the sites of rubble after the earthquake in Turkey. Rescuers were assigned a site in the Turkish province of Hatay, bordering Syria. The press service of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine showed a photo of the work of our specialists.
The speaker of the State Emergency Service said that the main mission is to search and rescue people.
Our first priority is search and rescue. Find living people! Only then the coordinating center will determine further actions. We have been assigned a sector where we are looking for people and providing assistance. So far we have not found anyone, but we are working on it. Work continues around the clock, – said the representative of the State Emergency Service.
The first group of rescuers has already arrived in the city of Antakya, where they set up a tent camp and organized work. Specialists of the State Emergency Service work in shifts – every six hours. There is all the necessary equipment for working with structures, blockages, rescue and release of people.
Recall that last night Ukrainian rescuers set up a tent camp in the Doankoy district of the city of Antakya, Hatay province. There are representatives of Kyiv, Kyiv, Chernihiv and Sumy regions in the combined detachment of the State Emergency Service.
On February 6, a strong earthquake of magnitude 7.9 hit Turkey. It was felt in Cyprus, Lebanon and Syria. Several aftershocks followed the main earthquake. As of the morning of February 9, 12,873 confirmed earthquake victims were reported in Turkey, and 2,902 in Syria.
