The United States has given preliminary consent to the sale of arms worth about $10 billion to Poland, primarily launchers for HIMARS multiple launch rocket systems and their ammunition.
This is stated in the message of the Agency for Security Cooperation of the US Department of Defense.
Warsaw’s request was for the acquisition of 18 M142 launchers for HIMARS; 468 sets of charging modules for HIMARS launchers; 45 army tactical missile systems ATACMS; and a total of 1,514 launchers for the GMLRS multiple launch rocket system of various modifications.
In addition, the Polish side turned to Washington with a request for training missiles, auxiliary equipment, communications equipment, spare and repair parts, other related equipment, as well as the preparation of military and engineering and logistics services.
The proposed sale will advance the foreign policy and national security goals of the United States by enhancing the security of a NATO member country that is the driving force behind political stability and economic progress in Europe.
Recall that, according to the first contract for the purchase of MLRS HIMARS, Poland ordered 20 such systems from the American defense giant Lockheed Martin.
