The dominant part of the Polish population calls the invasion of the Russian Federation in Ukraine the most important international and national event.
The majority of Poles named the most important event in 2022 the Russian aggression against Ukraine – both globally and nationally. This was confirmed by a poll by the Center for Public Opinion Research (CBOS) conducted in January, according to Wnp.pl.
Russia’s war against Ukraine at the national level was named the most important event of 2022 by 37.5% of respondents.
Polish citizens consider the invasion itself and all events related to it as one event: the provision of humanitarian and military aid to Ukraine.
The reception in Poland of Ukrainians who fled the war was called the most important event by 11.2%.
Almost 50% of respondents called Russia’s war against Ukraine or its consequences for the country as the most important event of the year in Poland.
Among the main events of the year, the Poles also named the price increase (3.7%), the coronavirus pandemic (3.4%) and energy issues – the completion of the construction of the Northern Gas Pipeline, the decision to build a nuclear power plant in Poland, the commissioning of a terminal in Gdansk for liquefied gas (2.2%).
It can be recalled that more than nine million Ukrainians have crossed the Ukrainian-Polish border since February 24, 2022, but 7.5 million Ukrainians have already left Poland.
In addition, Poland has prepared temporary housing for Ukrainian refugees.
