In the Poltava region, in the city of Gorishni Plavni, on the Dnieper River, the police, together with a caring fisherman who happened to be at the scene of an emergency, saved the lives of a 45-year-old man and his five – one month old grandson. This was announced on Sunday, February 5, by the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Poltava region.
Law enforcement officials said a woman passing by witnessed the accident. He also called the police and said a man in a stroller with a child fell on the ice.
“An element of the patrol police response group of the department No. 2 of the Kremenchug regional department immediately arrived at the scene,” law enforcement officials said.
It was noticed that a man with a child was at a great distance from the shore.
“Retrieving a man and a child from the icy water, they were immediately given to doctors, who both were hospitalized,” the report said.
“A local man born in 1977 and his grandson Ilya, who is only five months old, fell into an ice trap. According to doctors, there is no threat to their lives. Currently, juvenile police officers is working with the family to determine the circumstances and cause of the incident,” the department said. .
