Oleksiy Reznikov, Ukraine’s defense minister, said he would resign if President Volodymyr Zelensky made such a decision.
The minister made such a statement during a press conference in Kyiv, the Ukrinform agency reports.
Reznikov stressed that not a single official “is eternal in his chair.”
The decision whether I should be Minister of Defense or not be made by one person is the Supreme Commander and President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky, according to the Constitution. He gives an idea of the appointment, and the Verkhovna Rada appoints. Therefore, only by decision of the President of Ukraine, I will make certain decisions, and then do what the head of state suggests to me,” Reznikov said.
At the same time, he stressed that in the event of dismissal, he would support the successor and, if necessary, provide him with advice and consultations, as well as personally introduce him to the defense ministers, with whom personal communication “is at the telephone level, without protocols, without anything.”
Reznikov also said what he intends to do in case of resignation.
My profession, at least a lawyer, gives me the opportunity to think optimistically that I will definitely find an interesting project for myself that will allow me to win this war and then punish the military-political leadership of the Russian Federation,” he said.
Recall that earlier there were reports in the media that Reznikov could soon be dismissed from the post of Minister of Defense of Ukraine.
