The US military shot down a Chinese balloon that appeared in the sky over the United States. The balloon was shot down near South Carolina, the Coast Guard will look for its wreckage to study.

The bullet spent more than 24 hours in US airspace.

The United States shot down a Chinese-owned balloon off its coast, an operation is underway to collect the wreckage, the Associated Press reported.

The balloon was first seen on February 2 over the state of Montana near secret missile facilities. China has said that the balloon is an unmanned scientific airship that ended up in US airspace, allegedly due to force majeure.

Because of this “aerostat”, which quite “accidentally” flew over “sensitive objects” in the Western United States, the Americans postponed the visit of US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken to Beijing.

Earlier, American photographer Tyler Schlitt posted a photo of a Chinese high-altitude reconnaissance balloon now passing over the state of Montana, where US military installations are located.

The Chinese Foreign Ministry has already said it “regrets” that an unguided “civilian balloon” entered US airspace. Beijing claims that this is not a reconnaissance apparatus, but a climate probe.

In addition, another Chinese balloon was seen in the Latin American area.
