BobbyThe 30-year-old and 267-day-old Alentejo Mastiff, who lives in the municipality of Leiria (central Portugal), this Thursday was entered in the Guinness Book of Records as the oldest dog in the world.
“Bobby (b. May 11, 1992) not only dog the oldest living, but the oldest to date,” the awards organization posted today on its website.
They explained that Bobby lived all his life with the Costa family in the city of Conqueiros (municipality of Leiria, in the district of the same name) and that his breed, usually used to protect cattle from predators and known in Portugal as “rafeiro do Alentejo”, life expectancy is about 13 years .
They were able to confirm their age by being registered since 1992 with the veterinary service of the municipality of Leiria and with the Portuguese national control system SIAC, the text adds.
Recording dog The oldest still alive was Spike, a 23-year-old Chihuahua, and the oldest to date was Bluey (1910-1939), an Australian Shepherd who lived to be 29 years and 5 months old.
