The dog miraculously survived childhood. Now he is 30 years old. The animal entered the Guinness Book of Records because of its longevity.
A dog named Bobi, who lives in Portugal, entered the Guinness Book of Records. He has been called the oldest dog in history. The age of the animal is documented. This was reported by the Sky News channel.
Bobi is found to be 30 years old and 268 days old now. It is a guard dog breed Alentezh mastiff. He was born on May 11, 1992. The dog’s entire life was spent in the village of Coqueiros on the west coast of the country.
Dog owner Lionel Costa found Bobby as a puppy. The dog miraculously escaped death.
According to Costa, Bobi’s siblings were buried alive in the pit right after they were born because the previous owners had too many dogs. Bobby was accidentally found in a dark barn by Lionel and his brother, who were children at the time. They hid the animal from the elders until its eyes opened. Local custom says that puppies should not be thrown away while they are blind.
The owner also said that Bobby has always been a yard dog who does not know a chain or a leash. According to him, dogs get along well with other animals, including cats.
Because the dog is old, his eyesight is weak. He rested well.
Additionally, in 2018, Bobby had to be hospitalized due to breathing problems.
It is worth noting that the average life expectancy of Alentezh mastiffs is 12-14 years. At the same time, Costa claims that Bobi’s mother lived for 18 years, and another of the dogs living in this family reached the age of 22 years.
Note that the previous long-time record holder was the Australian Cattle Dog Bluey. He lived for 29 years in the state of Victoria in southwestern Australia. The dog was euthanized in 1939 due to a serious illness.
