President Volodymyr Zelensky spoke with the President of the European Commission and members of the Board of the European Commission, as a result of which “we reached a very important mutual understanding.” He expressed confidence that Ukraine deserves to approach the opening of EU membership negotiations this year. EU to adopt the 10th package of sanctions on February 24 – EC

The European Parliament urged to prepare negotiations on the accession of Ukraine to the EU

The European Parliament adopted a resolution setting out its expectations for the EU-Ukraine summit to be held in Kyiv on February 3. In particular, referring to the prospects for Ukraine’s EU membership, the document requires the EU to “work to launch accession negotiations and maintain a roadmap outlining the next steps to ensure Ukraine’s accession to the EU’s single market.”

EU allocates €500 million for military aid to Ukraine and prepares €400 million for reforms

The Council of the European Union has allocated the seventh package of military aid to Ukraine in the amount of 500 million euros and another 45 million euros for the EU military assistance mission. This was announced by the Minister of Foreign Affairs Dmitry Kuleba. In addition, Bloomberg, citing EU Budget Commissioner Johannes Hahn, said that the EU is preparing a new aid package of €400 million for Ukraine to support the reform process. Also, soon the EU will also propose to continue the suspension of all tariffs and trade protection measures regarding Ukrainian imports.

Millions in bed: a search for the Deputy Minister of Defence

Journalists received from sources in law enforcement agencies a video from searches in August of the person involved in the procurement fraud investigation at the Ministry of Defense, former Deputy Defense Minister Alexander Mironyuk. In his bed, law enforcement officers found nearly a million dollars.

In January 2023, the general fund of the state budget received UAH 104.4 billion. At the same time, cash expenses became almost twice as much – UAH 193.7 billion, including the general fund – UAH 183.6 billion, according to the website of the Ministry of Finance. In addition, in January, the budget received UAH 36.6 billion in the form of international aid (grants).
